My name is Gabriela Reis, and I am a 26-year-old chemical engineer who graduated in late 2020. My career journey began when I joined RHI Magnesita as an R&D intern in 2019, where I was introduced to the captivating world of refractories. I was immediately drawn to the field and sought out further opportunities at RHI Magnesita.
I decided to apply for the Global Trainee Program in 2022, and due to my dynamic personality and communication skills, this time I applied to the Sales area. Knowing the customers is vital for the Sales team's success, and during my first year, I spent countless hours working with five different customers, understanding their work processes and identifying their pains, to see how else we could meet their needs.
After gaining a thorough understanding of our customers' businesses, I started learning about our production sites. Currently, my project is focused on one of our brick plants. Here, I've gained valuable insights into employee health and safety, which is a top priority for RHI Magnesita.
One of the highlights of my journey so far has been my first visit to one of our customers' steel plants, which was a dream come true! However, I find everyday work exciting as well. I've come to realize that communication is crucial to success in every area and with every stakeholder. I also love brainstorming with people from different cultures, countries, and backgrounds who hold varying positions. It's amazing to see how diverse we are!
My advice to people who consider applying is: The world is constantly changing, and companies are no exception; stay positive and resilient. At RHI Magnesita, your colleagues will be true experts, and very soon they will also become your friends. Take this as an opportunity to learn as much as you can. Don’t be afraid of challenges, be innovative. Keep in mind: for us, nothing is too hot to handle!
