Our people
COVID-19 and digitalisation are fundamentally changing the world of work. From remote working to virtual leadership, businesses need new skills, roles and structures.
As we transform our business, we only succeed if we bring our people along on the journey. To do so, we have developed a new organisational structure and culture and are equipping our people with vital new skills.
Our culture
With customer focus at its core, the four pillars of our corporate culture are innovation, openness, pragmatism and performance-driven. We are working to integrate these into day-to-day behaviours across our business.
Engaging employees
Given the challenges of COVID-19, we have focused on keeping our employees safe and informed. We made extra efforts to engage with them through new communications channels, while offering home-working guidance and psychological support.
In the most recent global employee survey, our engagement score stood at an encouraging 79%. This score is based on six criteria — satisfaction, recommendation probability, pride to work for RHI Magnesita, belief in our future direction, team motivation and willingness to go the extra mile – and compares positively to a global benchmark of 73% and 74% for manufacturing industries. To accelerate the digitalisation of our business we have appointed more than 100 digital champions across our global business .
Developing leaders
As we transform our business, people development is vital. Our Radenthein plant is the most technologically advanced in the global refractory industry and is now our central hub for digital skills training.
The Refractory Factory is our global trainee programme, while our talent management system, the People Cycle, provides for performance and potential assessments and personal development plans. In addition, our new global leadership development program focuses on leadership in times of change.
